Our AFTER-SCHOOL TENNIS & EDUCATION PROGRAM

Portland After-School Tennis & Education’s “After-School Program” targets SUN Community Schools within the Portland Public School System where over 80% of their students are enrolled and receive USDA Free & Reduced Lunch Program.  Our two hour After-School Program creates a safe and nurturing environment for “at risk children”.  Sixty per cent of the program time focuses on reading and literacy.  PAST&E uses the award winning Playbooks Readers Theater to encourage reading and self-confidence in the students, follow the nationally recognized First Serves Life Skills Curriculum.  Forty per cent of the program time is devoted to fitness and tennis activities.  Students also learn about nutrition and “create and eat” a healthy snack at each session.  Our program sites for Spring 2009 are located at the following SUN Community Schools.
